I apologize that I missed last week - this will be another 2-weeker. Good news is that things have started to settle down again for me, and I will be able to stay on the weekly schedule for Picks. :)

ChatBar has been around...

I apologize that I missed last week - this will be another 2-weeker. Good news is that things have started to settle down again for me, and I will be able to stay on the weekly schedule for Picks. :)

ChatBar:

ChatBar has been around for a long time, but not many people know about it. That may be because it hadn't seen an update since December '06 (and it didn't need one). ChatBar is a bar with buttons for every chat type/channel you can speak in, colored by that chat color. Clicking a button opens the edit box with that channel already selected and waiting for your message. Combined with its "sticky" chat feature, never type /g, /bg, /raid, etc. again. The bar has two art styles included, and can be oriented vertically or horizontally, with text on or next to the buttons (or hidden).

For more info about ChatBar, see the download page.

Duality:

I remember when this addon was first in its initial development phase almost a year and a half ago. When I saw it get uploaded to the site finally last week, I thought, "hey - I remember that!" Duality is for dual-screen users. It puts the main game area on one screen, and sets up your other monitor for the world map, character/etc. windows, experience bars, etc. It basically lets you get the most usage out of both monitors for playing the game, all in one package, with some nice background art to boot.

For more info and screenshots, look here.

Learning Aid:

Learning Aid is for forgetful people like me, who can never remember what they just trained. So often I have to scroll back through my chat log to see what spells I just learned. What Learning Aid does, is every time you learn a new skill (be it through training, talents, etc) a window will appear on your screen showing your new abilities. You can then drag them from that window to your action bars. Never forget a spell again!

Read more about it here.

Sorry about the delay in PotW's, folks. I've been busy lately, and plumb forgot on 8/10 cause I spent that time testing the entries to the Addons Gone Crazy contest.

As usual recently, there were SO MANY uploads to the site in the past couple of weeks - I narrowed it down as much as I could, and am still left with 4. So, you'll just have to deal. :p

LeaveMeAlone:

Standing in Stormwind on my coding/testing alt, I get party invites, guild invites, etc. I'm not the only one annoyed by it, because now there is LeaveMeAlone for those times when you just want to be... left alone. It even lets you put in your own custom message, like "I don't wish to be in a guild" or "I don't do duels" or "who are you?" It will allow these events if the person is on your friends list or in your guild.

So, if you're a loner, having a bad day, or whatever your reasons, check out the download page for more info.

O.B.I. - On Button Information:

Want to know more information about your spells/abilities? How long is left on the debuff you put on your target or how much energy you need before your next Mangle? There are addons that do this via timer bars or announcements, but what if you just want to look at your action bars or don't want any clutter? Then try out O.B.I. - it adds information for any spell/buff/macro of your choice to the button itself.

For more info, check out its download page.

InfoBar:

You've heard of Titan Panel, you've heard of FuBar. There are also the new data display addons now like StatBlocks, Fortress, LynStats, etc. But how many of you remember the grand daddy of them all? Previously, Telo's addons were only available via his own site, with threads in the US UI & Macros forum when he updated for each patch. Lucky for us, he decided to move them to wowinterface. InfoPanel and LootLink were my first addons - I thought I'd share with you, too.

Check it out here.

ItemAge:

Ever wonder how long you've had that quest item in your bag? How about a blue world drop you keep trying to sell on the AH - is it time to just vendor it and give up? Now you'll know how long items have been collecting dust in your bags.

Read more and download here.

The oUF core has finally gotten to a point in its development where haste has decided to upload it to WoWInterface. You may have seen layouts for it or plugins which added additional functionality being uploaded in the past few months. In oUF's comments area, haste attributes his decision to upload the core finally to the sheer presence of these additional downloads. :p

oUF (core) is a lightweight unit frames addon that depends on layouts and other plugins to get you the look/extended features you want. It does not have in-game options, and you cannot drag frames - their placement/font/etc are controlled by the code of the layout you choose. As such, oUF isn't really for those who wish to configure everything without getting their hands dirty in code. But modifying a layout or writing your own is a good way to get your feet wet in lua.

For more information as well as links to layouts and plugins, see here.

Okay, people, last week's files covered 20 pages - that's 500 files that were new/updated to the site from 7/20-7/26. And some of them were updated more than once! (In addition to those that never made it past our approval.) The site staff is keeping very busy, but we love that you love wowinterface! Thank you. :) We love you, too. :)

InspectEquip:

Ever inspect someone and wonder where they got their 1337 gear? InspectEquip can help with that. When inspecting a player, a new frame opens that shows every rare+ item they have equipped, sorted by where/how it is obtained. So, the next time you see some mage with an awesome looking staff, you can see what you need to do to get it, too. ;)

For more info, see the download page.

GuildBankSearch:

Do you feel like you can't find anything in your guild bank? Do you have problems keeping it organized and wish you could just see at a glance where things were at? Or did that pattern you wanted go missing and you're curious who took it? GuildBankSearch will search through your entire bank and its logs to help you find what you're looking for. It fades out every item/line in the log except for those that match your search. It also allows you to filter based on level, type, equip location, etc.

Read more about it here.

Accountant has been around for over 3 years, and has had several different maintainers over the duration. Now, someone else has picked up the (once again unsupported) popular addon and it has finally made its way to WoWInterface. So, if you stopped using it long ago or are making due with an old version, urnati brings you Accountant 3.0.

Accountant is just that - an accountant. It keeps track of how much gold you have earned, how much gold you have spent, where you spent it, etc. With tallies for the current session, the day, the week, or ever since you've installed it.

Read more about it here.

Do you dread going to the badge or pvp vendors? Scanning through 10 pages of items looking for the one that you want? Then, you get to the last page and realize you went right past it! Well, this is an addon which attempts to remedy that. Much like BetterInbox (a previous PotW), this replaces the multiple page layout with a scrollable list. It also shows each items' type without having to view the tooltip (quest item, mount, 2H axe, etc.), allows you to filter the items in the list, and also has a search box. All to help you find just what you want.

For more info and screenshots, see the download page.

This new addon makes use of the new stopwatch feature added in 2.4.3. Do you dislike the look of the Quest Timer frame? Want it more streamlined? Draggable? With this addon, the new stopwatch frame will be used instead for your timed quests. If you are on multiple timed quests, the original quest timer frame will be used for the others. Also, note that attempting to use the stopwatch features ( /sw ) while on a timed quest will cause the addon to work incorrectly. The play/pause buttons on the stopwatch frame are disabled during a timed quest for your safety.

For more info, see its download page here.

Do you like the default action bars, but wish you could tweak them a bit? Maybe you wish to scale the bar without having to use the UI scale (which would scale your entire UI). Give nMainBar a try. It will hide the menu buttons and bag bar by default, as well as skin the Blizzard buttons. All options are controlled through its nMainBar.lua file though, no in-game options, so if you wish to set it to not hide the menu/bag bar, change the scale, the font used on the buttons, etc, you need to do it from the lua file. However, Neal has done a good job of labeling sections of his code and making things easy to find.

If you wish to give it a try, or just want to read more about it, look here.

How many alts do you have? Do you wish you could remember everything about them? Well, Armory can help. It will keep track of their gear, their inventory, their quests, their spells/abilities, their reputations... Everything you could wish to know. Extra features include the ability to search through their inventory, professions, spells, and quests, and the ability to look up data for other Armory users.

But wait, there's more! Read more about Armory on its download page.

As soon as I saw this addon, I had to show it to my hubby. He and his friend immediately installed it and they enjoyed a nice game while hubby was leveling an alt, and his friend was... I'm not sure what he was doing. :p

wowChess lets you play chess with anyone else that has the addon installed. It keeps track of your move history, has a timer, 2 skins for the board and pieces (the other is a Warcraft2 skin), and validates each move to ensure they are legal. It also tallies your win/loss/draw records. The board fades out when your cursor is not over it, so as not to obstruct your gameplay.

This addon allows you to set a note for your current target. It then displays that note on-screen whenever you target that player/mob again, as well as keeps those notes in a searchable database for you to access at any time. Helpful for keeping track of who on your server can do certain enchants, who is a good tank for a PUG, who *isn't* a good tank for a PUG ( ;) ), which mob fears, which runs away, which character of the opposite faction you need to get revenge on, etc.
Would you like to have a full list of all of your tradeskill recipes for your guidies and friends to peruse? Well, the author of this addon has compiled a database of all tradeskill recipes, and given you a way to make a list of everything you know. Merely install the PublishMySkills addon, follow the instructions and let it work its magic, then paste the looong link it gives you (on its in-game window) into your web browser. What it gives back is a page like this one: http://wow.referencethis.com/trade/T...nchanting.html - which you can then put in your signature on your guild forums or hand out to your friends.

For more information, the download page is here.
OneRing has been renamed OPie (since there was already an addon named OneRing) and released for public beta! This is the new thing that people are talking about around your watering hole. It allows you to press a keybind to show a ring with an arrow on your screen, then you move your mouse around it to select which item/spell to use. You can have as many rings as you like, and it even comes with some preset ones. If you wish to see a video of the addon in use, see the Gallery on its website.

For more info, screenshots, and a link to its website see the download page.

Want to explore every inch of your map? Then check out cargExplorer. It will tell you the percentage of how much of the world or a zone you have discovered, and how many pieces you have missing. So, put on your explorer's hat and call yourself Magellan!

Read more about how it works on the download page.

Sorry for the missed PotW last weekend - one of my little brothers got married! :) So proud... /sniff... :o So, today's PotW will encompass both weeks, with an addon from each week. :)

With my warlock alt, I always used to run into the problem of filling up my bags with soulshards. I'd think: "yay! a green!" then see that my bags are full of shards. Well, with Shoo Shards you can now auto-delete shards if you already have the max amount that you would like to keep. So, go on - continue your habit of casting Drain Soul... And never fear that you'll run out of room for quest items or phat lewt. ;)

Read more about ShooShards on the download page.

Do you enjoy doing Arenas and always want to go over each fight to see how you and your team did against your opponents? ArenaHistorian will keep track of tons of details from every match. Your opponents, their race, their class, their spec, how much damage everyone did, etc. You can even sync with other users of ArenaHistorian on your team if you missed a night of matches.

Find out more and download it here.
